Rowing weekend shortened by weather

At this time of year we would all be hoping to be enjoying sunshine and warm temperatures. Instead, it has been chilly and wet.

This past weekend the poor weather hindered the men’s and women’s rowing teams chasing victory at the Mid American Collegiate Rowing Regatta.

The Regatta had already been moved to a different location, but the weather eventually won through causing the Championships to end early.

The two teams would only compete in four races before the cancellation.

There was one team to finish first for the Lakers which was the women’s four. Both the women’s and men’s varsity eight would finish second in the tough conditions.

The tailwind that proceeded to get worse throughout the day meant that all races would begin with floating starts. An example of how bad the weather was.

Both teams will be hoping that the weather starts dramatically improving as they look to continue 2010’s success which included a national championship.
