Opinion: Letters to the editor Markle pushes too far
By Steph Wilkins Contributing writer I read Jerrod Markle’s opinion for the week a few weeks ago. Although he usually finds a way to make me mad, this week he has sent me over the edge. Not only did he apologize in his first sentence, but by the end of the article he gave the one of the biggest insults I have ever received in my life. Yes, I am an Intel major, but it is incredibly rude to say I will become a “freedom-crushing, neo-Hitler.” Not only did he insult me, but he has managed to insult our very successful and amazing professors who have worked all their lives to help promote freedom. I think that, being the opinion editor, you should say something. I advise you to make the suggestion to him to at least change his topics, because every week he talks about the same thing--Intel is bad. Not only is this angle making people angry, it is getting very old. “Intel is bad” might not be what he believes, but it is the message that is being conveyed from his posts. He also preaches “love” when all he is doing is spreading hate and anger, a very mixed message. I understand Jerrod is very thought-provoking, but he pushes the envelope too far, especially this time. Jerrod Markle is turning your paper into a terrible joke and I am not the only one who believes this.
