News Police look for suspects in series of assaults
From staff reports Mercyhurst College Police and Safety is currently investigating a series of assaults that first started March 16. A timely notification bulletin sent to students via e-mail Thursday afternoon states the assaults have occurred near, not on, the campus in the last ten days. The March 16 assault, still under investigation, took place on Parade Boulevard near the west side of campus, according to the college's police log. Locations and dates of the other assaults are not available at this time. The department’s current description of the suspects, according to the bulletin, are, “African American and Caucasian males who appear to be late adolescent to early young adults.” No further descriptions are available. “On two separate occasions, male students walking alone were approached by several other males who proceeded to assault them,” states the bulletin. “The attacks appear to be random and have occurred at different locations near campus.” Any one with information is asked to call police and safety at (814) 824-2304.
