Students can enjoy a concert, inflatables, carnival games and food on the Mercyhurst College campus this weekend.

Mercyhurst’s annual Springfest will take place this Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May 8.

Springfest events start with a performance by indie rock band Hellogoodbye in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Hellogoodbye is well known for their radio hit “Here (In Your Arms).”

The rock band Hit the Lights will open for Hellogoodbye.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 7, and students will have to enter the concert through the REC.

Mercyhurst undergraduate students may pick up one ticket for the concert with their student ID in the Herrmann Student Union this week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A donation is requested for graduate and employee tickets.

If there are a large number of tickets remaining a few days before the concert, guest tickets may be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

There are about 1,400 tickets available for the concert.

This year’s Springfest has a carnival theme. To follow this theme, there will be many carnival-style activities on Saturday, May 8.

“Like always,” said Student Government events coordinator Chris Ulrich, “there will be a number of inflatables, but we are also going to have outdoor games like volleyball and kan jam, carnival games, a dunking booth, skeeball, mini-golf, a DDR machine and a cash cube.”

There will also be carnival foods, airbrush tattoos and a photo booth.

A barbecue will follow Saturday’s activities.

“I haven’t played mini-golf in so long,” freshman Sam Farwell said. “I can’t wait.”

Sophomore David Jakubson said he likes Springfest because it “gives a place for students to get away from the winter slump and livens up the college.”
