Renovations to Mercyhurst College’s front entranceway began in late May after students left campus. The college’s Maintenance Department removed rows of trees and shrubs on each side of Old Main Road in preparation for the installation of sidewalks and ground cover.
Maya Brothers, Inc. and Dahlkemper Landscape Architects and Contractors have been hired to complete the project, which has been reported to cost less than $250,000, according to the Board of Trustees.
Construction on the college’s green roof, located atop Zurn Hall, has also started. The roof is currently receiving a fresh layer of tar before small trees, flowers and other vegetation can be planted later this summer.
