Men’s golf places tenth at Invitational

The men’s golf team is off to a successful start to their 2013-2014 season so far. Placing tenth at the Clarion Invitational on Monday, Sept. 8, they are looking ahead to yet another great year.

The Lakers finished with a total of 611 in two rounds of play at the Clarion Invitational last weekend.

Tying for ninth place for the Lakers with his collegiate debut was freshman Chris Kupniewski. He was only three strokes behind the leader with a two round total of 14.

Senior Cory Vinborg scored a combined 151 in the two rounds after scoring a total of 79 the second round during the match.

Some of the other top players during the meet were sophomore Jonathan Bayer who scored a 158 and senior Evan Watkins followed just a stroke behind Bayer for a 159.

The top five teams at the match were Indiana with 583. Carnegie Mellon carded a 598 for second, while West Chester scored 602. California (Pa.) had a score of 603 and Point Park 605.

The Lakers next match is the Allegheny College Invitational in Marietta, Ohio, on Sept. 22 and 23.
