The Mercyhurst men’s soccer team captured a 1-0 win on Sunday, Nov. 16, against Notre Dame College to advance to the third round of the NCAA Division II Soccer Tournament.

The Lakers will face the University of Charleston on Thursday or Friday, Nov. 20 or Nov. 21 at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. The time is still to be announced.

Mercyhurst goes into the game with a 19-2-0 record and a 15 game winning streak. The University of Charleston is coming into the game with a 19-0-1 record.

During Sunday’s game to make it to the third round, Mercyhurst was ranked #7 and Notre Dame was ranked #22 going in.

Junior Sten Marcson scored his third goal of the season in the 13th minute to give Mercyhurst the win.

His goal was assisted by redshirt sophomore Jack Watson.

Mercyhurst finished the regular season at 16-2, losing only to the University of Charleston and the West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
