Adult student found dead on campus

Authorities are investigating the death of an adult male student who was found dead at his apartment on the Mercyhurst College campus late Friday afternoon.

According to college officials, there was no indication of foul play.
Erie city police reported the call went out at approximately 4 p.m. to a ground level apartment at 3810 Lewis Ave. The Erie County Coroner’s office could not be reached for comment Friday night.

College officials report that the victim was an undergraduate in the Adult College.

College officials withheld the name of the student and other personal information at the request of the family. According to one report, the victim was a 27-year-old male found lying in the fetal position.

“The thoughts and prayers of the Mercyhurst community are with the family during this incredibly difficult time,” Mercyhurst College President Dr. Thomas J. Gamble said. “We share in their grief.”

The death came at the end of winter term, three hours after the last scheduled final. Many students are not on campus; however, college officials stated that grief counseling will be available to those who request it.
