Frozen Putt-A-Thon raises funds and supplies for A.N.N.A.
February 19, 2014
This past Saturday, Feb. 15, Public Relations Student Society of America students hosted their annual Frozen Putt-A-Thon.
This was the third year the club was hosting this event.
The event took place at Harbor View Miniature Golf Course located at 36 State St., from noon to 4 p.m.
The proceeds of the event were not only to raise money for the chapter, but also for the Association for Needy and Neglected Animals shelter, which they partnered with this year.
The items that are needed for the A.N.N.A. Shelter are bleach, laundry soap, disinfect wipes, paper towels, rawhides/pig ears, cat litter, and cat and kitten food.
This was an opportunity to bring a summer activity in the middle of winter. Students had fun in this activity that allowed them to enjoy a cold afternoon.
Besides enjoying a different activity in this season, they had the opportunity to contribute to such a great cause.
During the event, attendees enjoyed hot chocolate from Tim Hortons and pizza from Papa Johns.
“Students of all majors are encouraged to join PRSSA as event planning, community outreach and networking are beneficial for the future. We will be having an open house March 3 in the MSG Chambers for interested students to learn and April 12 we will be hosting a regional conference for students to attend,” Leann Krysiak, event coordinator said.
For more information about the Mercyhurst PRSSA chapter contact Leann Krysiak, event coordinator at lkrysi64@lakers.mercyhurst.edu. Items for donation can be dropped off at the shelter located at 1555 E. 10th Street.
