I’m snow sorry, Erie

Bernard Garwig, Sports editor

In the last issue, I asked where the snow was. I complained that we were being robbed of the winter weather.

A couple weeks after my piece was published, Erie got its first real snow for the first time on Dec. 7, 2017.

I think everyone didn’t mind seeing that snow at first, minus some of the problems that come with driving in it. But then the snow continued to fall. And fall. And fall.

Flash forward to now. My gripes really don’t hold up well.

Not only did Erie get slammed by snow, it made national news over Christmas break. Whether you were a native Erieite or someone who went home on break, you didn’t stop hearing about Erie’s
snow for the entire stretch from Christmas Eve to New Year’s.

I had family who were visiting my grandma during this, and they ended up shoveling multiple times per day.

Up where I was for break, we got a fair amount of snow. However, nothing measured up to what Erie and the lake region got.

I guess the moral of the story is that there are consequences to simply blindly wishing for things.

The ultimate irony of my previous opinion is that I specifically stated that I wasn’t looking to experience the huge amount of snow Buffalo got three years ago.

Guess I need to work on my wording next time.
